About…
The Chemin Neuf Community is based in Riviere Noire where we run a parish in quite a mixed area at the heart of which are the social housing estates, the poor area of the Island, and at Grand Baie, where we run a parish in the north of the Island.
At Riviere Noire
- Educational catch-up mission for underprivileged children from the Riviere Noire school ;
- Workshops for excluded boys ;
- Educational support for children in difficulty at Saint Benedict School – a school which offers free education for children ;
- Activities with the “Will Fly” Association: educational assistance and provision of meals for around 100 children from the social housing and camps in Riviere Noire ;
- Help and support for nursery children at the “New Kid” School ;
- Educational support for teenagers from the middle school “Saint Esprit” (“Holy Spirit”) ;
- Help with activities at the charity “Pont du Tamariner” at Riviere Noire ;
- Organisation and coordination of “Vac’Actives”: activities for children and youth during school holidays.
At Grand Baie
- Architectural mission for the future training centre at la Salette ;
- Architectural follow-up and manual workshops for the Chemin Neuf Community houses in Mauritius (Trou d’Eau Douce, Riviere Noire, Grand Baie) ;
- Pastoral mission at the heart of the parish run by the Chemin Neuf Community.
